Have the cooler temps slowed down the reds from heading onto the flats at all?

Stephen, the red fish patterns are different for every location. The inshore reds around Wilmington leave the shallow estuaries in late sept. and head toward the waterway, inlets and then the ocean, lookin' for love. It's a great time for Spin fisherman who can catch em' in deeper water when they move, but uncommon on the fly. The larger systems like the Cape Fear River tend to hold reds in the shallow water much later.

Specks

Nice fish!! What worked?

Stephen-I think they are are slowing down quite a bit. I saw several on the last full moon but they don't dig for very long. You see them waving for a second get ready to cast and then their gone. I think their looking for the crabs they have been eating all summer but most of the crabs have buried. Good tides this week around BHI so gonna give it another try.
