This red caught last weekend measured 27". Not the longest red I've caught. But this fish fought harder than any fish I've ever hooked inshore. A 20 min. battle. I could barely lift him with my xp 8wt.. He earned his own post.
I jsut talked to another buddy of mine down in your area... he snagged a 31 incher yesterday... ( and had other shots at large fish) I guess the little rats are growing up... funny how that works when they have the opportunity.
JDunn, funny, I've been seeing the same thing. The last three flood tide cycles down here have produced more and much larger reds than in the past few years. In fact, on the last new moon I picked up my personal best fly rod caught red drum.
