Allbright?

Anybody use any Allbright rods, reels, etc? I have no experience with them but hear they have a big sale on. Thanks

That's a good question. They have salt rods and I rarely seem them advertised.

Got a 6wt XX for bass and an 8wt EXS (unfortunately discontinued) for salt. Initially bought them as back-ups for my high-end rods but I fish them too regularly to consider them as back-ups anymore. They track extremely well and their actions are smooth with no noticeable dead spots (unlike most bargain rods).

These are both very fast sticks (will really BOOM) and I don't have any of their trout rods (I usually gravitate towards slower rods for trout) but that may change.

Check out this link for comparisons on 5wts:

Of course everyone's casting stroke varies but I haven't cast a rod (and I've tried most everything out there) that begins to compare for less than $350.

Have dealt with their customer service folks too. Very responsive!

I've got the A-5 5wt, and I really like it. I don't have much experience with many rods, but this one feels great to me, and it certainly isn't too fast. I'd vouch for this one, and recently recommended the company to a friend.

I also have the GP in the 6/7wt, which I got a year or so ago for $40 figuring it was low-risk. I like that one less well, and I think the tip guide is a little small (or maybe it reflects my knot-tying abilities, though I don't have this issue on my other rods).

I haven't tried their reels, but I have found their customer service to be very quick and helpful. I had some questions about the shipping options for an order I'd already submitted (when I realized I'd be out of town for a while when it was to arrive), and they were glad to work it out however I needed to do it.

Price is right for sure, seems like a LOW risk investment. Not to many of those in this sport.
