I am looking for an anti reverse reel for salmon,is there such a thing without having to sell my house? Does anyone here have one?

Why do you need one? I catch false abies (can take your fly at almost 40 mph) with a standard reel under $200. if you have a good drag, I see no reason for an anti-reverse reel.

Tibor makes an anti-reverse reel in their Billy Pate line. Although they remain costly new, there are probably that can be found used. I once scoffed at anti-reverse reels. I found them bulky, lacking in retrieval speed, and compromising in fish fighting "feed-back". However, I can understand the benefits of not having a metal handle spinning around at "almost 40 mph" at the very least.

I've caught many 'o Salmon with a Hardy St. Aiden click pawl reel, so no you don't need an anti-reverse reel.

Nice to see you've come around, Doc. And for those who choose to use 'standard' fly reels, perhaps letting the drag do its thing and allowing the hundreds of yards of backing to see daylight before grabbing that dangerous handle would prevent the trauma of 'knuckle knocks'. Oh, and Billy Pate would be proud of you....
