Anyone hit the Saluda in Columbia yet?

I am taking a rod build client out on the Saluda on Saturday. I have not gotten out there yet this year. If anyone has fished it, shoot me a PM. I can always go back and figure them out, but I want my client to have a good day on his new rod. Thanks guys.

No stocking yet this year, but reports of some holdovers are circulating.

Haven't had much luck since the temp drop on any species, even the bream are tough to find these days. Maybe some smallie action? Haven't been out in a couple weeks, but have been waiting for the temps to stabilize and quit freaking out the fish.

I checked a few weeks ago... I must have seen the wrong portion of the Saluda being stocked. Maybe I will take him out on the broad/congaree/saluda and see if we can stir up some smallies. A smallie on a 9ft 5wt would be quite fun.

We are heading out tomorrow. We will rent a canoe and head upstream or maybe drift. Which flies are best for smallies?

I am not sure how far up the smallies have migrated. I have not heard of any being caught up much past the zoo, but they could be there. Let me know how it goes though. It should at least be nice tomorrow!

Never had much smallie action going up the Saluda....seems they stick more in the Broad/Congaree. I've done best around the bridges up to the spillway where the diversion canal starts. BTW, saw some baby gators in the canal a few days ago...pretty cool.

Update on trout stock:
ETV-Radio does a Q&A with the DNR on the first Wednesday of every month. This past Wednesday one of the DNR guys said it would be late November or early December before the Lower Saluda received any stockers.

Also, this could be a good resource for somebody:
