bend's in rod

Picked a fairly nice rod it has small bend's in the 3 section's i am guessign from the way it was stored anybody have suggestion's on how to take them out I want to remove old varnish and renarnish it.
Or if anybody know's of anybody in Western North Carolina that can do a refinishing and strighten on rob that would be even better for me

Bends in rod

You can probably straighten the bend or "set" in a rod by heating it with a hot air gun, and then applying opposite pressure while it cools. Go easy with the heat, you don't want to apply too much. Don't wear gloves while you do this, if it is too hot to hold with your bare hands, it's too hot. Spin the rod over the heat so that all of the strips are heated evenly.

Harry Boyd does a pretty good job of explaining things.

Again, as Rodmaker says, don't wear gloves. If it becomes hot enough that you can't hold it, it's too hot. Then again, it has to be hot enough for the bamboo to get soft. Go slow and you'll know when.
