I'm not sure it would do any good, but after he gets out of jail, he should never be allowed a hunting /fishing license. He does not deserve the privilege.

It would be fitting to make sure this guy can't breed again.
If only....

I think the stupidest part is the fine he will get...$5,000....that would even cover the transporting of this Bull from where it came from originally. How much do you think it cost from the time they captured it to the time that idiot killed it, to keep that bull? I would say far more than $5,000. I would sue him also for damages and revenue lost due to the idiot killing that bull. That would seem fair.

If they pursue all the possible charges they can, it'll jack up the cost to this idiot, and the jail time. Should be some hefty gun law violations involved in this one. But you make a good point. A lot of effort and costs went into bringing back these beautiful animals.

Doesn't cover the transportation costs, the management throughout his lifetime, the cost of the investigation, or any taxpayer funded jailtime....if he gets any.

We should also note that $5,000 is the maximum fine.

And Bear Poachers

In the Asheville news they also reported a conviction on two thieves for killing a black bear. They both got a $5K fine and six months in jail. Not enough in my opinion, but at least they got more than a slap on the wrist and wink from some local judge. The Elk was killed in a National Park which will add to the fines and possible jail time. Let's hope the judge decides to set an example.
