Caney Fork (TN)

Hit my local tailwater at daybreak 5/21. A beautiful day to be on the water. There were lots of fish rising all around. I missed several before I hooked into a 14" bow. I had to borrow the right fly from a buddy who came by in his yak. I had a little trouble with my line feeling "rough" when I was casting. I think I need to check the guides on my rod. What do you all use to clean your guides? Oh yeah, it was a new line so it wasn't the problem.

Re: Caney Fork (TN)

Hey 'fisher, LOVE the Caney!

I drifted it with Admiral Blume and his friend Scott, and as Scott was landing a 14" rainbow, a 9 pound Striper chased it right up to the gunnels!

Are you sure it's the guides (look for rough or dinged spots), or is it grit/sand in your reel?

Re: Caney Fork (TN)

I didn't think about the reel. It kind of felt like my guides were on the verge of icing up and making a scratchy sound against the line. Thanks for the advise.
