Clinch River,TN

A special thank you to Travis (KnxTravis80) and GrannyKnot for their advice on fishing the Clinch River!!! I fished the Clinch (floating a section below the weir dam) this past Saturday for the first time ever and caught 14 fish! I caught my first ever brown trout and my first ever brookie! They weren't big but that didn't matter as they were both firsts for me!

I fished a size 20 black/silver zebra midge and the fish all seemed to really like it. I lost what looked like a 18-20 inch brown as I was bringing it to the net - it just about made me sick. I was very fortunate on the next "big fish" as I actually landed a 17" Rainbow (a stocker) that provided me with the largest trout I've ever taken. Needless to say, I had a lot of "firsts" on this trip and I'll never forget it.

Again, thank you fellas for the advice and information!

Scott

Congrats Scott! You had much better results than I did my first time on the Clinch.

That brown is especially pretty, and one of the more colorful ones I've seen come out of that water lately.

Did you put your boat in at the River Road access? How far down did you decide to float?

Scott, what kind of yak are you running down the Clinch? I'm thinking about purchasing one, soon.

We put in at the Peach Orchard access (is that aka the river road access?) about 7:00 a.m. and floated to the Hwy 61 bridge. They turned on 1 generator about 9:00 a.m. so we pretty well stayed ahead of it until the last couple of miles. The fishing was actually the best from the Peach Orchard to about 2 miles down river. By the time we hit the Hwy 61 bridge it had been 7 hours on the water and suffering from a sore back & arm!
