I had the itch to head down to the hated/loved spring creek after class today. Got on the water around 3.30 pm, and the rain hadn't quite started coming down. Tossed a black slumpbuster and caught an average little brown on the 3rd cast. Nothing photo worthy. I then headed upstream to work the undercut banks.
This is my 5th trip to said creek, been skunked twice but today was downright epic. Laid into a toad, more on that later....
Pretty nice to have in your backyard....

I focused on working the undercut banks with the slumpbuster. Suddenly, this aggressive little trout latched on, and flew out of the water on the 6 weight hookset. I had never seen a trout like this before, and on closer examination, no doubt it was a tiger trout... I have never caught one, let alone seen one in a stream. My guess is it was one of the SNP removal fish, stocked with the rest of the browns. I was amazed how aggressive the little fella was. I felt like I had found a needle in a haystack, catching this tiny fish.

I then headed downstream and laid into a TOAD. The thing grabbed a big, black marabou leech, about ripped the rod out of my hand. He was aggressive. Sorry the photos are blurry, I was shaking because I was pretty excited
I couldnt zoom out far enough to fit him in the frame, he was a handfull! Brookies are so much easier to manage
I quickly got him back in the water so he could go about his business....
After he went about his way I caught another smaller brown and decided to call it quits. I don't mind the rain, as long as the fish are bitin'!
