I have been trying to tie a replica of a fly that a buddy gave me that resembles a cat toy in both size and notion. However, when I try to glue the strips together using zap a gap the strips harden into an undesirable stickbait type thing. I had considered using rubber cement but was concerned with the odor. I know somebody will say that no glue is required, but the fly I am trying to mimic definately is.

Zap a gap won't work.

The only thing that really works is Val-A-Tear mender. You can get it at the craft stores. Don't be fooled and get something that looks similar. I promise you it doesn't work.

Trust me on this...its 1 of 2 streamers that I fish with every weekend.

Kevin Howell showed me a variation of it too. Take a white cross cut rabbit strip and hackle it around the hook shank, trim off the top and then tie in a green,black whatever color on the top (Magnum strip) its alittle easier, but I don't think as effective. Great for smaller hooks and chasers when rigging a double or tripple rig.
