I like Ross with Lamson nipping at their heels.

For Ross lovers...

Heard that the Evolution is being discontinued and being replaced by the Evolution LT... Don't see how you can get any lighter than the Evolution and still have a drag system and a handle!!! Not much more room for any more porting... Interested to see the new model, but I can't find any pics... Guess I'll have to wait till after the trade show this weekend.

Good news is that most places have them on sale from between 25-40% off, but have limited sizes left...

Need to find a 40% off Evo 2 spool in black!! If anybody knows where to find one, let me know!!

That would be something... there's nothing left to whittle off of the Evo from what I see.
Are you sure you're not thinking of the new Ross Vexsis? That is a few steps backwards in that it's heavier than the Evo... but it DOES have a chunk of carbon fiber on it that you can see!

Saw it on several different forums and talked to one of the guys at the local shop... They've got all theirs 25% off!!!

Supposedly retooled drag and a more aggresive style and porting... And of course more cheddar too!!!

I like the current model... Why mess with a good thing?!?!?! San Miguel Vision??!?!?! Gunnison?!?!?! Rythym?!?!?! And now the Evolution?!?!?! WHY!?!?!

Interested to see it myself, probably be shown at the FF Retail Show this weekend.

They did whittle some more off the Evolution to create the Evolution LT. However, the parts are interchangeable. I have an Evo 5, but my spare spool is the LT. Heck, the Evolution is fine with me in terms of weight so I don't really care one way or the other. If you get a deal, take it.

EVOLUTION LT!!!

I dind't think they were out yet!!! Did you get a sample, guide deal, or something?? New EVO LT looks pretty sweet though... Good to hear that the spools are interchangeable. But the Midcurrent article says something about a new drag system on the LT... Doesn't sound like they would be compatible, but works for me!!

When I heard Ross was discontinuing the Evolution I was pretty ticked off... Another good reel tossed to the road side like the San Miguel Vision, Colorado, Gunnison, Rythym, and I'm sure a few others...

Talking to John Cross from Unicoi a few weeks ago and we both agreed that not much more could be removed from the Evo reel and there still be a handle and drag system left...

Well I guess we were wrong... They ported the heck out of this thing...

Pretty sweet looking reel, but I wonder what the article means about clunking sounding drag?!?!?! Apparently Ross removed the plastic dampener from the drag... Any ideas why?? Can't save that much weight...

I want to check one of these out in person, wonder how long till they hit the shops... May have to start saving for a Xmas present, for myself that is!!!

Anyway here is the pic and the Midcurrent article...

I am an oddity-but I only buy Okuma now. I started buying their spinning reels, and originally bought one of their low end fly reels (sierra-it was a gift actually), after it was stolen along with the first rod I ever built, I began to explore Okuma's other offerings. I love paying well under $100 for reels that have never failed me. Currently their SLV is my favorite (but they do have a few new offerings that look quite nice)

Ross reels for me. I have a Vexsis for my 5wt and picked up a Rhythm the other day for the 3wt that I am building. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet but looking forward to it.
