Fishing Kayak ?
I am looking into getting a Kayak to fish from, but do not want to spend a ton of money. So whats a good one to get? and what do you look for in a good fishing kayak? I will mainly be fly fishing out of this.

Check out the "ultimate" series, they are designed so that you can even stand and fish.

I use a Dagger Approach 10.0, and love it, but i am curious as to the advantages of having a sit-on-top. What are the pros and cons of each type of kayak?

Where are you planning on using it? Depending on the use, you may want to look into Pontoons also. For the small lakes around here the Pontoons are great. If you are interested in more rivers, particularly the ability to go upstream, the kayak may make more sense. Kayaks move quicker, with less effort. Pontoons are slower, but are designed for fly fishing and are great to fish from.

a sit on top allows you way more freedom to move around and get in and out of the craft. I will often navigate up the James river as fas and far as I can and get out and wade good spots then drift back down. I can flip my legs over the side and get in and out without fear of tip over. These are designed to be able to stand up in but I am not quite man enough for that.

Best advice is to go paddle as many as you can before you make your decision. There are so many different kinds of kayaks out there and they will all put you on fish. Some are faster, others more stable. Where you use your kayak will dictate what kind you want. Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayak, Hobie, Native, Heritage, Perception, Hurricane, Cobra are some brands to look at. Lots of info at www.kayakfishingstuff.com
