So Saturday is the only day, will it be crowded? is it worth the drive? or should I go someplace else the Hooch will be blown out with all the rain.

Welcome to the Board and the abnormally nice responses you got. *They're just pissing on your leg to see if it'll get a rise. *Don't mind them none a'tall.

Yes it will be very crowded as will every other DH river in NC. *Your best bet is a non DH river. *I don't know much about rivers over your way, but perhaps some of the other idiots that frequent this Board will have some good ideas. *This idiot is new to all this too so you're not alone on the Board - keep posting and asking questions and they will teach you a lot. *Or try the NGTO board for more localized info.

Big T sorry I didn't realize you were a newbie..should waited to pick on ya! sorry.. it was all in good fun.. This Sat is "opening" day so all the once a year trout fisherman will be out. *I would stick to Catch and release streams, or Fly fish only streams. Sat will be a bait chucker free for all *sorry to say.
Welcome to the neighbor hood.. There are a lot of good folks here.. Like trout boy said were just a bunch of idiots tryin to have a little fun ;D

Idiot? Hey....I resemble that comment ;D

Fished the Nanny-haler last weekend - it was awesome. It was Memorial Day weekend, and the first weekend that the college youngins were out of school, and it was only moderately crowded. You can very easily stake our your own little section of river and fish yourself stupid all day. Watch out for the worm chunkers and spin heads....they got a bad habit of hoppin in your holes - stream etiquette = 0

The section right behind the power plant was the most productive for me, and the least prone to spin head attack. You'll have a good time no matter what happens.

Welcome to the board, everybody here is real cool...just watch out for Savannah, she'll hijack your threads and talk off topic till the cows come home.

Ha, ha.....just kiddin Savannah, you know I love you :-*

Re: Fishing on the Nanny

if you fish hard enough, and at a slow pace.......you "should" catch fish..........jus dont throw anythin that resembles a nightcrawler, Delmonte corn, or a rooster-tail.........
........dont think for a minute that there arent any "smart" fish in that river........its so beautiful up there, what have you got to lose?......test your skills bro.!
