Fly benches or stations

OK I have come to the decision that I may have to break down and make a station to tie on.I need ideas on storage and setup hopefully some can post pics of their own with thoughts on the pro and con of it all. Thanks

I use a roll top desk that I inherited from an uncle. It has three large drawers on each side and quite a few smaller drawers and cubby holes on top. It is great for tying because I can close it all up at the end of a tying session. This hides "the mess," as my wife calls it, helps keep dust off my materials, and keeps my daughter's cat out of my materials. If you can find a roll top for a decent price, I would suggest you get it. One thing that I did to mine was to cut a piece of countertop laminate to cover the top of the desk. This protects it against spills and provides a light colored background to tie against as the desk itself is pretty dark.

I use the roll top desk as well. I got it as an unassembled pice from one of those unpainted furniture places years ago. took a while to get it put together, stained and finished, but worth it.

I purchased a used wooden desk to store most of my materials. Decided to build somthing to put on the desk to organize my tools and thread. Looks just like any other bench you can buy, but made it out of some scrap wood I had. Put in dowels along the back of it to hold spools of thread and holes in one side to store tools. And this picture is when it is clean, you should see it now.

Here's my set up. Simple and basic. I got the storage units at Staples. Cheap but practical.
