I'm using a Loomis 7'9" IMX 2 wt with a 3wt line out on the mountain streams. Reel is a cheapie, but as others point out, you don't need more for brookies. The heavier (if you can call it that) line loads it up to the point that you can cast with 2-3 ft of line and the leader.

That said, I have a 7'6" 4wt bamboo in the pipeline from my local rod building buddy. A slow process, but having cast a twin to it, I think it will be well worth the long wait. Latest word is that it will come to me in a month or so.
