Google terrain map stream names?

I used to use the terrain map on google to find different streams, but now all that appears is a blue line, no more names. I guess I'll just have to use my trusty gazetteer.

I sure am going to miss exploring on that google map though.

never knew the stream names were on there, or at least the streams I have looked at, were not named. maybe some sharp fly fishing google nerd will whip up some add-on code for us

Try MapQuest. They seem to name more small creeks. You can get aerial or street maps.

They are still there. No sure how you are looking for them but my GPS coordinates still work and they all show the stream names

Click the link and hit TERRAIN view (zoom all the way in) and it shows all the stream names

That did it, my little stream I was looking for is only named once, so I had to travel way upstream before I could see it named, but it WAS there. thanks

please don't tell my gazetteer I am cheating on it.

Well, I'm still not getting them all especially feeder streams. Another suggestion is Acme mapper and click on the topo selection. Here is a link.

Did you try going WAY up or downstream, the stream I found in NC is REALLY small, there was no name listed until I went WAY upstream and there it was...and I was as zoomed in as you can go, on the terrain setting as well.

Yep. I looked at some streams that feed into the South Holston below the dam. Some were named, but some were not. I've got the magnification bumped up as high as it will go. Scud

I hate to burst your bubble but ACME maps is GOOGLE maps. They are running Google Maps API.
Look at the far bottom right here of this map

Yep, but it also has the topo maps. I think I'm expecting too much. On a sat view some of those feeders do not even show up as a running stream.
