Henryville Pa
Last week I got to fish the private waters of the Henryville Fly Fishers. My friend Fred asked me if I wanted to go with him and after all the stories and info about the history of the club I jumped at the chance. We firsted stopped at the stream keepers home and looked down from a top the old iron bridge like little kids looking into a candy store window. The browns layed hunkerd down towards the bottom until our slightest movement spooked them. Fish between 1-5lbs probably bigger. I couldn't wait to get into the water. First we had to go to the club house and sign in. Just outside the door on the right side of the building im guessing from the late 1800's early 1900's was modern necesity. The plastic bin, bleach and unfortunate sign "Must wash boots and waders to prevent the spread..." So we put our gear in, walked inside and it was an amazing feeling like you stepped back in time. The history and photos on the walls. Low ceilings and bare necesities but yet out of the tiny old home spilled the stories from Calvin Coolidge, T Roosevelt, Wild Bill and too many others that fished this amazing stream.
Pool after pool we picked browns, rainbows and brookies. (sorry I have a few pics and am waiting for my buddy to send me a couple but will post later) My largest brown was about 18" and all lite up. I also was able to get my biggest brookie as well about 12" maybe slightly bigger. All on a 3 wt.
As I fished one pool Fred was out of the water I saw him talking to a man whose head was circled with smoke from his pipe.
I'll write more later a part 2 so to speak. hopefully with pics.
