Kids and dads show Report

What an event!!! It was great to see so many kids having some good ol' fun. Bob and Jule, thanks so much for putting this together. Esteban and I had lotsa fun. Even when it got wet. Looking forward for next year. I will have to get a kid on loan thought...
My take:
Nice seeing old faces and new faces.
Lots and lots of kids!
Lots of proud dads!
Good ol fun!
Dancing around the fire.
The snoring section (I made sure I set up far away).
Ridding the Creeper Trail with E, willing trout, he not killing me in the double bike.
Canoing the New, willing horny head, not much fishing but still fun.

Thanks everyone!

La_Trucha and Esteban!

Cheers...

PS-Photos to be ad later...

Streamer and Devin's Dad did a great job, again.

My kids had a blast. Ava caught her first fish, x3. The kids got their only shoes and clothes wet, and their spares, within 15 minutes while Overbrook passed on the wisdom that I should "let it go".

The fly tying lessons were the best anywhere. Thanks again to Overbrook and Flemming13.

Carter can cook some venison, too.

Kids & Dads Weekend Review

My takes................
Tent and Trailer City on Helton Creek.
A fat Rainbow found my soft hackle Friday at dusk. 22"....ask FFNC.
But here's why we do this.................

R. McStreamer ties into a nice 'urn.

Here's the fatty 'bow that bent Ryan's rod.

C. McStreamer, not to be outdone.

...and the Brookie that fell victim to an Egg and PT on the dropper.

Demi and Josie doin' that girl thang. New campfire buds.

We sat around one of these, enjoying old friends and making new ones.

Between the fishing and ridge climbing expeditions, there was lots of this goin' on.

Finally, after clean-up and pack-up, there was some of this left to do. So we did some of it, said our goodbyes, and as we left the camp at Helton Creek, I bet I'm not the only Dad who heard this: So, Dad, when's the next Dads & Kids Show gonna be?"

Thanks to Devinsdad for his hard work, and to Overbrook for bringing the marshmellers, munchies and kid drinks, etc. I have a new hankerin' for Sunny D and CapriSun. Thanks to Dutch Boy and the Cherokee Mafia for the 'sketti & meatballs. Thanks to Benflyfishn for the morning muffins and pastries.
Thanks to gqualls and Nathaniel, the fire keepers. Speaking of fire, a special thanks to Drew and Pansyman for the loads of firewood. We burned about a cord +!
Christensen's smoked pork was a BBQ lover's delight! Thanks to all the kids for pitching in and doing their part of the chores.
And really, the congratulation goes to all the dads, grandads, etc. who took the time to turn all their attention to teaching their sons and daughters just a little more about the outside world in a setting with which textbooks, classrooms, and computers can't compete. We collected crawly bugs, flying bugs, crawdads, and saw three different trouts, and various minnows, chubs, buzzing things, and we got a starlit night, the brightest and prettiest that God and Nature could provide us, just to show off a little. Scary stories, roasted marshmellers, willing fish, great pals, and the best by far, "Goodnight, Dad. I love you, Dad."

Hats off to DD and Streamer for putting the trip together! Demi and my dad had a great time. We all met great kids and fathers. Demi did not want the weekend to end. My dad caught the most trout ever on the fly rod. I sent him home with a rod and flies to play with at home, for some warm water fish. I think he may be hooked. And yes, all I heard all the way home from Demi was, "Are we coming back next year, when is it, will my friends be there again.......?" She had a great time making new friends, and cacthing crawdads, and the occassional trout. She wants to look for crawdads on the next fishing trip. after of course catching some trout. My dad had great time meeting everyone, and is looking forward to coming again next year. He had praises for all the dads and kids who came to enjoy the outdoors, and the fishing.

I am glad to finally put some faces to names from the board. I had a great time talking tying with Overbrook, gqualls, fleming13, and others. I hope to maybe wet a line, and talk some more tying with you great gentleman.

Here is a video of pic's of the trip.

Great trip and many, many thanks to the organizers! Trey (my son) didn't want to leave and has already asked about next year's trip. He caught 3 fish on a flyrod and since his birthday is about a week away I'm going to get him a beginner's flyrod set-up.

I hope all of us from the Cherokee Group didn't get too loud and/or rowdy at night.
