Left Behinds Sign-up
OK, here, it is, semi-officially, and subject to change by consensus.
Date: Nov 14-16
Location: KOA on Big Cove Rd., Cherokee NC
Basic info. Everyone is responsible for making their own reservations, and paying for their own accommodations. As usual, you are encouraged to buddy up to reduce costs. If we can get 20 participants, we should qualify for a group rate, so for the next week or so, let's just sign up. We will have group meals, which in the past have cost about $20 for the three meals, supper on Fri, and Sat, and breakfast on Sat. Hopefully, we'll get some rain before then and can have a campfire as well.
Current rates at the KOA, taken from their WEB site:
Kamping Kottage with bathroom, shower and kitchen
sleeps 4? $129/night $278 for weekend
1-room Kabin sleeps 3
-- on river 62/night $132 for weekend
-- regular 52/night $111 for weekend
2-room Kabin sleeps 5
-- on river 72/night $154 for weekend
-- regular 62/night $132 for weekend
Cherokee KOA Phone number: (800) 562-7784
We'll see of Paul Cole still has any influence in these maters, and will post updates as they become available. We'll do assignments is a couple of weeks in a separate thread.

PHG, I'm in.
Just a note though, in talking to Bryan it seems the camp host stays right near where we usually kamp and doesn't even allow conversation after 10:00. It seems that KOA has been taken over by ex-Commie mods!
Also, any word on if the showers will be open?

Jack, we'll be glad to have you join us again. We missed the casting clinics ....
For the past 2 years, the KOA has been closing and winterizing the restroom building on the upper end. The second bathhouse, down near the front office, remains open, of course. It's a bit of a walk in the middle of the night, but since we all had our cars with us, it wasn't a real problem. Of course, there are also a few trees nearby....
We didn't have any problems with the hosts, but then there was a campfire ban in effect last year, so we were probably a bit more subdued than usual. I understand the Bkatz's group stayed on his/her bad side. As they say, though, forewarned is forearmed, so we should be able to manage things.

I'll be there. Judy can't come because of a prior commitment.
Jack, the KOA is OK but I sure wish we could find a more hospitable place.

What about Lands Creek Cabins? Eugene suggested the place, so maybe he could check into things there. Just a thought. I'm fine with any place.

Lands Creek
Lands creek is nice but the cheapest cabin rental they have is $160.00 a night. I dont have a problem with it but it might limit the turn out.
