Thanks, Cyberfish

Ballpark of 30 to 40 on Saturday night. Maybe 20 or so on Friday night.

I enjoy the gatherings more and more each year. Fun crowd, and plenty of people generous with their time and stuff. Ditch was kind enough to bring enough pelts to share that a new tier could take some snips and be set. (I think I will really like the Caribou). Creek Scum was equally generous with biots. Phil passed out a great CD. FlyChamps shared his Scotch. Overbrook and JT taught me some new tying techniques. Glad to see some new faces, as well as those that have been around awhile.

CFFC is really taking off, too.

The show was good. Lots to look at. Not nearly as many rod mfgs as there used to be. However, several of the local shops were well represented and took my money.

I watched one of the casting demos and got so motivated that I went out to practice this afternoon. Packed it in due to the gale force winds. Came home and tied up a few bugs.

It's over already? I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms.

Once again, a great time. Y'all did a good job of setting it up, and Marriot done us proud! I shoulda took a picture of that sign. You'da thought we was a bunch of celebrities! It's always good to meet up with old friends for a couple of evenings of laid back nonsense. There were several new faces as well. The crowd wasn't as big as last year, but still respectable. I never thought to take a head count, but I'd say, maybe 40.

I only took a few pictures.

Streamer holding court:

Some serious tying....

...and, of course, we have to try out the rods....

Third one for me and I must say the best one so far (1st one don't count because I was all crippled up) 2nd one I didn't participate much but this one I got around to see a lot of new techniques and also showed off my namesake a little. Bottom line, I really enjoyed myself - good group of folks.

I concur with estimate of at least 40 on Saturday evening - for sure if we grow anymore we need a bigger room.

One thing I would like to see next time would be some name tags so we can associate a screen name with a real name and then put it all together with a face. No big expense, just some of those peel off "Hi I'm ____________ and a magic marker is all it would take.

I hated to see it wrap. So many talented tiers in one room. Maybe next year we'll be able to make it all weekend. Thanks for some pretty cool memories.

WOW!
This is my favorite event every year, and this year was terrific! The Marriott treated us very well, and has invited us back for next year and beyond.

Here's my takes:

JT once again making me jealous of his skills and knowledge. That Woven Bully is the cat's a$$, man!
Ralph wows 'em with dem little flies. The soft hackle king backs that up with Magic Midges, all tied perfectly.
Disco gettin' in a groove with his very cool Hipps poppers.

SIDENOTE: I spoke with Anthony Hipps, who created the Hipps Popper that Disco ties. I mentioned to him that Disco had been tying a few that Friday night, and I invited him to join us on Sat. night. Anthony said,"You don't need me to be there to tie poppers for you. Kim ties them better than I do."
Strong medicine, Bubba.

Teachertec's Sulphurs spun up on a NorVise. Sweeeeeet!
I wanna see Overbrook and Smoky vs. Ditchmonkey, Supafly, and PCole in a cage match. Nice flies from all of those vises.
Ditchmonkey's friend goes on a shooting rampage in the Himalayas, and we get all the pelts. Thanks, Ditch.
Always a pleasure to see PHG winging them wild wets and classic Catskills dries.
Wouldn't be an event without Peddler making the rounds, and making us laugh. Next year, I'm gonna force him to tie at least one fly!
Madman Wilhelm and his Frankenfurler. I am really impressed, Mein Furler.
P.S. to Wilhelm: Room 109 is now called the "Furler's Sweet". Marriott charges extra for it. They promote it as "suitable for chains and motorized twisting devices." What does that mean, Tim? Oh, your wife called and reserved it for next weekend for y'all. You can thank me later for planting that key on you.

Great to see all the new tyers as they learned from some very good teachers.
My friend Brock shows up and makes everybody feel special. The Pink Squeezer Worm fly will soon be in the Umpqua catalog, Brock.P.S: Thanks for the hooks.
Peewee and Flyrod planning their assaults on some Va. streams with the new fly patterns they saw in the room.
Bonus for me:I met 5XTippet and his lovely daughters. Clayburn (sp?) is now the Mistress of the Minnow. ("Mistress of the Streamer" gets EVERYBODY in trouble)
JustJudy and Miis Judy dressed the room up, as always.
Although I didn't aprtake in the Filtered Fruit Fountain Festival, I heard it was a smash. Or everybody got smashed. Or the furniture got smashed.Something like that.
Talking fishing and tying with Riverman is a genuine treat. He's just a damn fine man to be around.
Dipnet and Candy showed up for awhile, then disappeared. Hey, where'd y'all go?
Creek Scum wowed me again with his dyed biots. Thanks, David.
NOTE TO DEVINSDAD: When you trim that Flashdancer. the flat cut with the razor is made on the BOTTOM of the deer hair. On the BOTTOM, Bob.
Flychamps showed up and tied his special small flies, and told his large stories.
Billres and Croaker cornered the market on shad flies and salty stuff. And tall tales. Them Georgia Boys is somethin' else!
Sorry you couldn't stay, Big O. We're thinkin' of ya.

Thank you all for making this such a special weekend.
Y'all are just the damn best, is what y'all are.

Streamer
