Midgin' it on VA's infamous spring creek

Met up with coldontheshoulder for a little spring creekin' on VA's most frustrating piece of water. Sure was beatiful, sunny weather. As you might know, the trout in this particular stream don't dig beautiful weather the way us humans do. We were hoping for some hatches, which never materialized. No real numbers of trico or bwo, but there were plenty of midges and a select few risers were taking them. The real heartbreaker was the 18 inch brown that sucked in my number 22 griffiths knat. The timing was right, but I still missed him.. that kype can be tough to penetrate with the tiny hooks if they don't get it just right.
They weren't necessarily digging streamers, and the water was pitfully low, and muddy. Not prime, but both of us caught feesh. I got to break in my new custom built glass 3 weight, and then in itself was a great feelin'.
Heres a couple pics. Coldontheshoulder got some pics too, maybe he can add some. Had fun fishin' with ya

Creek sure is pretty in the evening, with or without hatches!

Had a good one Jesse, we need some water if the fall streamer fishing is going to turn on. A few there is always a good day though.

Sweet pics bro!

Couldn't think of a better way to break in the new fiberglass 3wt. Well, maybe if I caught that big boy that sucked the midge down, that woulda been nice. Or, if that other fish under that tree that broke the tippet. Oh well, can't have it all, there a sly bunch and good at gettin away. A couple is more then a great day there, given the conditions we had today.
We'll get rain, then we'll get after em again
