Wow....I'm finally back on line, have electricity, tv, telephone and the other comforts of home. Phil (Mr. Lucky) blew my house up . Yep...for those that don't know, Phil came back home from Vietnam with a metal plate in his head, a glass eyeball, a broken back and too many other injuries to mention. What he failed to tell me was that the metal plate is also acts as a lightning rod. Here's a short recap of the lightning event.

Phil and I were getting ready to fish the sulfur hatch on high water. Rods were in the boat, cooler filled and fishing vests laying in the bottom of the boat. Before we could get on the water, a huge storm came through with rain, hail and lightning. We rushed back to the house to weather the storm. I started to tie a few flies and Phil went outside to smoke a cigarette....shouldn't do that with a metal plate in your head . We took a direct hit from a lightning bolt....it shattered the power pole beside my house and blew Phil's eyeball right out of his head. After being struck, Phil took off for the house and busted right through my screen door and he almost tore up by back door trying to get in.....yep....he was moving fast. He came running into the house with only one eyeball and all his hair was standing straight up.....scared the #### out of me when I saw him .

After Phil indulged in a heavy cocktail to steady his nerves, he made me go out in the rain to find his eyeball....Yep....he was afraid some animal would grab it. I kept trying to convince him that no animal would be out in that weather but he made me do it anyway. He told me that he gets two free beers every time he takes it out and passes it around the bar. After an intensive search, the eyeball was found in the grass next to shattered remnants of my power pole. Phil was definitely a happy man after he got his eyeball back in but his hair was still sticking up all over....that's when my laughing started....he looked like the professor in the movie "Back to the future". I laughed so hard that tears came in my eyes....then Phil started laughing and it went on for a looong time. Phil called his wife to let her know that Mr. Lucky had survived another big event.

Yep....he blew up my house....he got off with the short term loss of his eyeball, a head full of kinky hair that won't lay down anymore and there's a chance he may need therapy to recover from the trauma. I lost a power pole, transformer, screen door, tap and splitter for the cable system and I was offline for 3 days. My boat also filled up with water and flooded all my fly boxes.

Besides that, we had a great time....and Overboard lied...Phil can catch fish .

I could go on and on about Phil stories but it's getting late and Disco's taking me smallie fishing in the morning.

Come back soon Phil but please....no more lightning .

I was pulling my boat thru Hickory Tree when that storm erupted. Thank God that I saw it coming and was able to get off the lake B/4 it hit.

Torrential rain, lots of lightning and hail. I had to stop and wait for a lull in the rain so that I could pull the drain plug on my boat. I had so much water in tha boat that it was getting squirrely even at 20 MPH on the road. No way that I could have driven in it any faster. Blinding rain fer sure.

Blake and I get on the phone last night and he recounts tha blown eye ball tale. I am laughing so hard that the cats are getting scared.

Phil ............... Damn glad that you are OK,my friend and glad yawl had a good bite on tha river. Also glad that you had a jug of nerve medicine with you.

I laughed so hard that I just woke up my entire family from nap time. My wife came in to see what I was up to and I let her read Blake's post and told her that I fished with Phil at the Spring Show. She said 'You can't fish with him anymore'.

Phil, glad your OK and glad you got into fish. Thanks for the laugh cause I needed it.

Glad every one was ok. That sure was a storm.

Whose boat sunk? Was it the idiot who put in at like 10am and floated through/busted up the fishing for everyone (he was just up stream of us when we left.)
