Re: New Fishing events and get togethers!
I think this sounds like a great idea and another reason why this board is so different from all others :)

I have been out of this place for too long!
T.E., Ilike your idea. I have little time off due to hunting season and now the restoration of la/ms disaster but I am sure the other folks will enjoy.

Re: New Fishing events and get togethers!
Glad to hear all you guys are supportive of this and are interested.
Looking at our schedule for September the only weekend where Jason and myself will both be around is this weekend, so lets have a get together this weekend. I know its short notice but next weekend is the TU meeting at the shop, and the weekend after that Jason is going to Montana and I have to babysit my two children for the wife.
So if you can, lets go bass fishing on Lake Fontana!
Bring your canoes, pontoons, belly boats, kayaks, drift boats whatever you have that floats, and if you don't have something that floats I bet I do, and you can borrow it for the day!
Just let me know if you want to borrow something.
I have two drift boats a kayak and a float tube. I'm going to be in the kayak, but everything else is open. So there's seats for seven people that don't have a boat.
We'll meet at the shop Saturday morning and leave from there at 9:30 am. For those of you who don't know where the shop is, its on hwy 441 North in Cherokee at the redlight across form the Cherokee Indian Museum and the Cerimonial Grounds. Its real easy to find.
Well be fishing the Tuckaseigee River where it meets Fontana Lake. The local bass club and Swain county has spent tons of money on a nice facility and a BUNCH of bass habitat contruction. The fishing is awesome most all the time. Expect to catch Smallmouth, Largemouth, Walleye, Catfish, Trout, and maybe even Carp. Just depends on what you are fishing with. It's that diversified! Not to mention the Smokies as your backdrop. So come on and join us for a day of fishing on Fontana!

Re: New Fishing events and get togethers!
It has been expressed for many years that we need more frequent get-togethers.
For what it's worth, I'd suggest that monthly get-togethers stay "BYOB".... and I mean on EVERYTHING. This way if 5 or 50 show up, you won't take a beating on the 200# of BBQ you bought.
I personally would attend whichever ones I could, but these days it's hard enough to attend the spring & fall PFF's, let alone a monthly gig! (I'm a hunter as well) However, it sure would be nice to have options, and this way ~everybody~ would eventually get a chance to meet some of the fine folks here.

As a new guy to the area, I'd love to attend as many events as I could.

Re: New Fishing events and get togethers!
I thinks it's a great idea Eugene. It'll be good for the board members and good for your shop. I can't make this first one but I'll try to make some in the future. You've got a great location to base this all from. Have you had any luck finding a firewood supply for the PFF? Hope you and Jason can make it by the camp at least for one night. Come hungry and the meals on us.
Tight Lines,
David

Sounds good Eugene, *
Dependin on which days they're held, since it's a fer piece up the road for me. *Sunday is my only sure day off (most of the time, sometimes I still have to tend to business on Sunday). *Fridays and Saturdays take some negotiating. * I'll try and make it to some of*the get togethers.

Re: New Fishing events and get togethers!
Sounds awesome Eugene. I have only been able to make one PFF in the last 3 years because of my work schedule and would love to hook up more with everybody. I finally have some free time coming up. I will keep an eye out for dates and would especially be interested in the hazel and fourney creeks just becuase I have never been over to them.
Sounds like a great idea.
