My new Clearwater II rod

I just bought an Orvis Clearwater II rod. It had a sticker on it saying, "Made in China."

I love the rod; it casts very nicely and feels great. It's very light.

My only concern is how easily it chips. I've taken it fishing at a local park pond three times and it already has a couple of tiny chips at the opening of two ferrules and an annoying chip by the cork. Where I fish is all grass and I have not snagged it with a hook. I honestly don't know how the chips got there.

I'll probably send it to Orvis after the season and ask them to fix it. I think it's a $30 charge. It's a beautiful rod and I don't want it marred by chips.
