Question on ODC816 valves

I know the following are the cover over and the main Boston Valves for inflating my toon.

But does anyone have any idea what these small valves in the storage bag compartments are for. Are they maybe emergency valves that are placed here for easy access to make small adjustments during your day on the water? The instruction manual does not show them at all.

Thanks in advance for anyones help,
lynS

"O"

If I remember correctly, those little valves are indeed leading to an "emergency" or back-up bladder to keep the whole thing from sinking should the main two tubes blow out.

I never used them on that boat so they have never been inflated. Seems there was something about them that was very inconvenient, like I could not reach them easily with any sort of attachment............... or, I tried to blow them up by mouth and the air flew out faster than I could put it in there.................... it has been a while but that's my story and I am sticking to it.

For what it is worth, when I first purchased that boat that Olyns has, I bought 6 of them, kept one, and sold the other 5. This is when the ODC-816 was a fairly new product and my invoice shows February of 2000 . In my opinion, those tiny "emergency chambers" in the cargo bags did not work as intended. At least they did not work for me. (Never mind Marty's making fun of my blowing). Could this be the reason they are not found in later models? Plus, the retail price of this boat dropped a bit after the first year. They originally had a SRP of $499.
