Soho, Watauga Nymph

This is a pattern I developed several years ago to match the mayflie nymphs on the SOHO and Watauga. It has been a fish taker and my go to nymph for as long as I can remember. If you tie and fish it please give me some feedback because I know you will not be dissapointed.

Hook: Daiichi 1530 or equivalent
Thread: Black
Tail: Olive barred flank or olive partridge
Rib: Fine copper wire
Abdomen: Olive/brown haretron
Thorax: Peacock ice bubbing
Wing case: Dark pheasant tail
Legs: Teased peacock ice dubbing

What are the most popular sizes???? Sounds like a fishy fly though. With my experience on both rivers. Probably a 20 or smaller for the So Ho and a 16 and smaller for Mother Watauga!

I use a #18 to #20 on the SoHo and #16 to #18 on the Watauga. I will see if I can get a pic of one up. The hooks I use are short shank so they are most likely 1 size smaller than I listed.
