I'll let phg chime in when he reads this, but I think he always fishes in Va. during the Spring Show.

Donnie-
your makin this way too complicated dude

Be prepared for all weather from 28 degrees to 80 degrees, wind rain and frost and hurricane.... seriously....

Iffn it rains ( and it will) just wear hikin boots, mud don't get much worse than that... (ankle deep ) just kidding, even with a bit of rain, it is the tall grass that gets wet and soaks your shoes. Only time it will be a big problem is if it rains for daaays...

Demascus and the waters there in are about 20 minutes from camp. PHG has a hole or two he fishes on up in VA a little further away. I am sure he will chime in here.

If you have never done it, and money allows, I would strongly suggest you pay for the 3 day tag and fish the Holston and the stream near camp. Well worth the $$ just for the experience.

DD I was attempting to be funny. Must not have worked.

Thanks for the advice. Think I will get those license if I come. Still waiting on the 5-7 day approval process.

sheesh, I seem to be getting a bit of a reputation.

Since I normally purchase an annual non-resident VA fishing license anyway, yes, I do fish mostly in SW-VA at PFF. There are a number of streams that I know and enjoy that offer pretty fair fishing, including a couple of blue lines up around Mt. Rogers. I'd actually like to find more streams in the area, but time is limited. A return weekend camping trip isn't out of the question....

Actually, this year, I'm may break down and get the TN 3-day license for $33.50. I think that's all that's needed for the S. Holston and the Wautauga. Someone who fishes slowly needs to go with Phil to make sure gets in and out OK....

Now if Plumbob was coming down, that would settle it!
