Still have Sulphurs on South Holston River- Spawning Areas Listed here

Had Sulphurs again this week in pretty good numbers.. along with the BWO's and ton's of midges.

Only two sections of the river are closed for the spawning Browns.
The rest is opened to fishing 12 months a year.
The CLOSED SECTIONS are:
From 44 Bridge up to Bottom Creek- which would be the very bottom of the Culdesac- on Riverbend Road. So from the Dam down to the very bottom of the Culdesac is open. Big Brown Signs are on Trees to indicate this.
The Second is: From the Bottom of the Island below Weaver Pike Bridge to some 4-500 Yards above Webb Bridge- there are markers that show this on Big Springs road.

This leaves 10 miles or so of river open ALL YEAR. And we have very good BWO hatches ALL WINTER. And as indicated above , the Sulphurs are still here.

Tight Lines,
Rod

Thanks for the info Rod. I have a question for you. I have never fished the Holston, but I am hoping to get up there this month. Are there any camping options up there? If so, could you give me an idea of where they are? Thanks again for the info.

Are the browns now active in the open spawning area below Emmett Bridge? Or is it a bit early? Regards, Stephen

Matthew, I haven't stayed here, but I have read some posts of people who have, and they seemed pleased. It's Cherokee trails campground and Stables. Here's a link.

Matt knows of some camping areas- call him at the shop for info.
The Browns are not at the place you asked of Stephen. That is the spawning browns..
