Bond, James Bond

Although this falls into the realm of shutting the barn door after the proverbial horse is out, there's a piece of technology called a passive RFID chip that can be purchased and secretly embedded into the boat. All that's needed then is someone to scan it with a reader (unfortunatley in the physical presense of the boat and not like the movies where you can follow the red blip from your briefcase laptop as you track the villans down), and it's not likely to be found by a thief, even if they were smart enough to sand the manufactures markings off. That way when a suspicious boat is found for sale, you could have a possibly fool proof way of identifying it as yours.

There are several companies that use the technology as part of their boat "security," but it's aimed more at larger crafts, however the principal applies for a drift boat and the cost isn't that much when compared to getting your boat back, and busting the jerks that took it.

Pics Please

I know guides on SOHO and Wautaga. I float these and The Caney, Hiwassee, etc. I will print and mail pics to them if you post pics. Eventually, someone will get this boat wet and be seen. The oval will be visible up close for sure.

Thieves suck.

Thanks, guys. It's been so long, I tend to forget about it but it is hard to believe a relatively new Hyde Low Profile drift boat can just disappear here in the southeast. When we owned it, it was trimmed in red and black, had counterbalanced oars and our logo decal on both sides of the bow. Not too long after it was stolen, we got a report of a drift boat sighted near Murphy, NC that matched the body style but appeared to have been painted green (like with a paint brush, not a professional job). Just got that one report and never heard another thing. I really appreciate your continued interest and willingness to help.

Tight lines.

Thanks. You never know when the dummies may decide they've kept it hidden long enough for the heat to die down. I really appreciate your concern.
