Stolen Drift Boat from Unicoi Outfitters

I'm sure a bunch of you are familiar with Jimmy Harris and the Unicoi Outfitters. Their drift boat at the Blue Ridge location was stolen either Monday night or Tuesday morning. It is/was well marked. Hoping that you will keep an eye out for the boat. Thanks.

Can you supply any more information about what make/model of drift boat it was in the case of the Unicoi logo being removed? That really sucks like a river chub.

More Info

From Jimmy Harris at UO:

Well, here we go again. Someone has stolen our Hyde drift boat from behind the store in Blue Ridge. It's red, black and white, has counter-balanced oars, and, when it left our place it had an oval Unicoi logo on each side of the bow. You never know if someone dumb enough to steal something as large and unusual as a drift boat will have the sense to take the logo off. Not sure how you fence something like this but we would appreciate everyone keeping an eye out for it. If you have any information concerning its whereabouts, you may call our shop in Blue Ridge at 706-632-1880 or our shop in Helen at 706-878-3083. If your information leads to the recovery of our boat, I promise you will be one well-equiped angler, compliments of Unicoi Outfitters.

The boat was evidently taken some time Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

From Matrela Brown at UO:

The trailor is black and the tag # is TL6206J. If the logo is removed, there may be an oval fade spot on the front of the boat (thats the part that was red).
Thanks for all the help everyone.
Metrela

more info

Just talked to Unicoi.
Boat is red bow, white stern. A Hyde drift boat.
Trailer is black, GA. plate TL6206.
Has tan Unicoi logo., if removed should be an oval fade spot.
Thanks for keeping your eyes out.
There's some serious fishing equipment for someone who might spot it!

Thumbs down

I hope they catch the jerks that did this.

FYI- Elk Creek Outfitters in Boone had the same thing happen. Someone pulled up to their shop early one morning and stole a Star raft (trailer and all). This happened in April or May. I don't think they have any leads.

Bringing back to the top. The more people that see this the better.
For those of you wondering...YES, it is ok to "snag" them while fishing if you see them with it, along with any other thieves.
B/c of this I've actually started to tie some EHC's and some Adams with treble hooks

I hate that loss for them. I fished with his store, in Blue Ridge, on my honeymoon. They are very nice people.

Interesting

That is interesting. I am from this part of Arkansas and I know and have fished with John Wilson. I have fished the White and Norfork Rivers for years and maybe seen a real drift boat out on the water twice. Also if an older woman got caught out on the river when they started generating, (they dont post any kind of schedule in Arkansas) she could end up in Memphis quick.
I would look into this closer. If you would like my help let me know, I can get intouch with John Wilson (webmaster and guide) and Jimmy T (area guide/ moderator), just send me a PM.
