tire mileage

What kind of mileage are you guys getting from your tires?

First set lasted about 6200 miles, this set has barely made 5,000 and they are toast.

This time I'm running the new Bridgestone BT016. They grip very well and seem to have gotten good traction in the wet. But dang I was hoping they would last a little longer.
My last set was the Bridgestone BT015

So what are you guys getting and what are you running.

I'm thinking of going with a sport touring tire this time around.

I've heard good things about the Michelin Road 2 tires. I'm still on my original tires, 7000 miles and they should make another 3000 to 4000. When I do replace them it will be with some form of Michelin.

not a motorcycle guy but I hate working on cars or anything else mechanical because I grew up as an assistant to a desiel/car mechanic father who is obssesive about cars as I am about fishing.

Sounds like you got some soft tires. They ussually ride better, grip better, perform in the rain better, etc. But the trade off is they wear out faster.

Again I know nothing about motorcycles but if it were me and I was counting on only 2 wheels Id choose performance over price/durability (with in reason) any day.

6k aint to shabby out of a dual tire at all as soft as they are like Riprarian said. I have gotten an easy 10k out some Michelin's in the past. They were cruiser tires though...

I have the Michelin Pilot 2 CT on the front and the Bridgestone BT021 on the rear. Both have about 2000 miles on them and no appreciable wear. I'll let you know how they do come spring when I start putting the miles on them again.

I guess it's not that bad considering.
I did like the traction and performance that I got from them. From a performance standpoint, they were flawless.

Here's the write up on them.

Average from what I've heard is 6500 - 7500 miles per set. Motorcycle tires are extremely important to keep properly inflated - you'll wear them out much quicker if you don't. During riding season I check my pressure weekly and adjust even if a few PSI off.

Agree with the comments on softer tires gripping better but not lasting as long. On my vehicles, I'd be okay with running some harder tires to get more mileage out of them. On my bike - yeaaah, I'm gonna go ahead and run whatever grips the road the best, even if I spend more $$ more often.
