Toads of the Valley

A last minute free pass got me out the door and to a popular spring creek with someone who knows a thing or two about the waters in the Valley. The forecasted rain was a ghost but Robert and I stuck a few on terrestrials. Between us we landed a handful or so. Our offerings were even acknowledged by a few incredible specimens including one absolute brute that Robert turned a couple times.

Who has two pectoral fins and loves a green Madam X? This guy!

Found this bastid finning under a small log, snuck up on him and dropped a foam beetle on his nose:

Put a Charlie Boy hopper on one fish and THIS slob rushed out from under a bush to snatch it away...TOAD:

Hammin it up:

Thanks for a great day Rob,

Marty, that was an excellent time.Saw some really nice fish. And I am sure your Rainbow buddy will be waiting for you on your next visit.
Those fish of yours are even nicer when I am getting a good up close veiw.
Sorry we missed the Trico and the Rain....

I am glad I got in on the terrestrial game or I would have had my pockets turned out in the fish department today.

I came up with a corny name, in the same league as Frank(the Tank) and Bruce(the Bruiser) and all the other pigs on the creek....."Levi" as in Leviathan....HA!

I need you to send me a recipe for that purple leach....I really think that fly would kill in the right conditions.
