Update on WNC Fly Fishing Expo

Spent the afternoon in Asheville setting up my booth for the Fly Expo. I think the show is looking good. Lots of fly shops; company reps with products; some artists; etc. etc. Building is pretty full with booths (about 50...) on either side of a large casting pond in the center for rod demos etc. And, making a quick swing thru, saw some good sale prices. Talking with a few other folks, all seem to have a very positive attitude toward the show.

Good turnout

From a retailer's perspective it was a very good first day. Lot of folks between 10 and 3. Everyone thought it was a good show. Presentations seemed well attended. Casting pond stayed busy. Lot of folks shopping. Jim Casada's new book on the Smokies looks great. Beau Beasley's book on VA looks great as well. Lots of products on display from Simms, Fishpond, Ross, TFO, Sage, Scott and others. Some really nice looking drift boats and rafts. Lots of local knowledge available from guides and tyers... Ate too much BBQ at lunch...feet and knees ache...looking forward to Sunday. If you go, don't neglect the folks on the outside rows.

Great show!! Hats off to Frank Smith for putting this one on!
I hope this is the first of many years to come for this show.

BBQ was outstanding. I'm a fan of 12 Bones now for sure!

Lots of great shops and guide services there, and the manufacturers were well represented. I was very pleased. Got to see some of the latest stuff and cast a few great rods.

It was nice visiting with old friends and making making a few new ones too.

Overall, A+, Great show you guys!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We had a great time at the show this weekend! Got to see a lot of old friends, meet plenty of new folks, eat some good BBQ and sit in on some good seminars. Frank Smith did an outstanding job of putting this thing together and we look forward to more in the future.

We did have a drawing at the end of the show this afternoon for the free trip on our private water on the Chattahoochee River. The winner is an old friend of ours from Lexington, SC, Reuben Chandler. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to enter the contest and congratulations to Reuben.

And thanks to everyone who supported this show by attending. We are very appreciative. See you on the water!
