Josh, Grandad and myself hit the upper watauga. Rain, rain rain had been the forcast. I think we had rain 9 days straight. When we put in the water was slightly dingy. Only a short way down and I put a pretty little brown in the net on a october bugger. The water was getting more stained by the minute but josh was picking up fish in the runs with a nymph rig and granddaddy was hammering fish with a streamer. We picked up fish the whole float . One reason for the whole float was to remove an old abandon canoe from the river. I had seen this boat for weeks and it had been beat'n and bashed by generation. It was a little work and with only 1 little scare where I about broke all the rods and took a little swim. We made it to the ramp and the locals called the law to check out the boat. After a brief dissusion with twra officer. We loaded it up for Granddad to try and fix up for the scouts. I really respect the game wardens but this guy was kinda rude and had no personality! Reguardless a big piece of trash out of the river. And a day with friends.
Hey even a guide can get a tangle now and then. And when your chasing a wide shouldered bow in a rock garden its gonna happen! Luv ya bud!
With some duct tape and zip lock bags we had the old canoe floating. KINDA!!!!!
All in all a good day with good fishing for the conditions. When we got back to the put in the river was running pure mud!!!
Hey OVERBROOK GDADDY want to know when your gonna come fish with us?

I set the hook on a fish 45ft away and missed him then all the line ended up in a pile at my feet in the middle of the rock garden.
I think you used this picture to soon "danielson". I too have some blackmail shots of KLOWE

I'd love to !! maybe this fall....I've never even been to the Watauga. I still laugh every time I think of your grandad at L&T ..."you better pack your lunch son!" He sounds just like some of the old farts I used to hang out with when I was a teenager...cherish the moments!
P.S. thanks for posting that pic of Josh.....now I feel a bit better about myself I was in shoulder deep in the water trying to release a fish that had taken me several ft under the very rock I was standing on because I was foolishly diddling around with the stripped line instead of hauling in the fish....and of course I had an audience
It looks like a good of fishing Kevin. Thanks for the report and as always the good photos. I have run into a game warden lately down on the holston and you would have thought that it was a burden to come down and check my license. Oh well.
