A deadly Fran Betters fly. This fly is made with snowshoe rabbit. If you don't have anyy snowshoe feet, use rabbit or any other dubbing of your choice.

Pretty simple fly, but there are subtleties that make a well tied one more effective as a fish catcher.

I know, I've been missing for a few weeks. I was on an out of town assignment.

Anyway, I thought I'd give this Adirondack pattern a whirl. Interestingly, it is an example of using a locally available material to create a unique pattern. In the Adirondacks, the snowshoe hare is much more common than the cotton tail, so it's a common material up there.

I bought a set of hare's feet several years ago, intending to tie up a few of these. Never got around to it, of course....

All I had was a piece of natural rabbit strip so I stripped the Hare hair from the strip.
