Good one Bill. I'm going to print that list. I could make it a goal to hit all of them over time. Kinda like the FFF cuttcatch or basscatch where you try to catch four of the species of cutthroat and black bass. We are so lucky to live at the center of such a delicacy. Having been raised on southern food in general is also lucky.

You mean none of these places have a "lite menu"? And no little hearts by some of the entrees? Uh-oh

Glad you enjoyed the list Flyvet. I think we need to put together a list of top fly-fishing destinations and good eats. The Davidson and Hawg Wild comes to mind. Bob Melton's used to overlook the Tar. You could park in the lot, fly-fish for shad in the morning and later step up to the resturant and enjoy lunch.

I am partial to Cook's in Lexington. It has been awhile though.

I'm sure this might upset the NC & SC folks, but the best BBQ has to be in Memphis, TN. At last count there were 106 BBQ eateries in Memphis.

My favorites in Memphis:

Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous
Interstate Bar-BQ
Corky's Bar-BQ
Neely's Bar-B-Que
leonard's Pit Barbecue

And for something different, Coletta's Italian Restaurant, which is famous for their Barbecue Pizza

Dixie Pig in Blytheville, Arkansas & Golden Rule in Hover, Alabama are pretty darn good too.

I'm a NC bbq snob, so my favorite comes from my Dad's backyard, with my bro in laws sauce--made with freakin Knob Creek, no tomato products, and tons of vinegar.

I've tried a bunch, and don't remember a few that i liked but my most visited are:

Little Richards, w-s
Keatons, for the chicken--not technically bbq, but damn!
12 bones, asheville
hawg wild, pisgah forest
mac's, charlotte--when i need a fix and can deal with the cutesy/yuppie/pseudo-biker/banker crowd

If you're eating mushy pork shoulder then you're at the wrong place, which unfortunately makes up most of the bbq joints close to the road in this state.

Hands down, Brown's BBQ in Kingstree, SC for the pulled pork vinegar/red pepper experience of your life. By the way, the ribs at the BBQ spot next to DRO are GREAT. I pick them up all the time and bring them to my wife, who loves 'em too. She doesn't seem to mind my trips to the Davidson since I started doing that!
